Interlinked had wired smoke alarm with battery back up. Hardwired smoke detectors have a signal wire connected between multiple units enabling them to communicate with each other. In a big house if there be a fire in the kitchen the smoke detector in your bedroom will go off giving you plenty of time to evacuate.
